Step-By-Step Instructions:

  1. In a saucepan, bring water to a boil.  

  2. Stir in oats and reduce heat to medium-low. Cook, stirring occasionally, for about 5 minutes or until oats begin to thicken.  

  3. Add milk, diced apple, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt. Continue to cook, stirring frequently, until the oats are creamy, and the apples are tender (about 5 more minutes).  

  4. Remove from heat and let it sit for a minute to thicken.  

  5. Divide the oatmeal into two bowls. Serve warm.
